Margaret Robinson Buttrick, Director of Children & Youth Ministries
It is with great joy and anticipation that we extend a warm welcome to Margaret Robinson Buttrick, our new part-time Director of Children & Youth Ministries. Margaret joins us with a wealth of experience, a commitment to Christian education, and an interest in helping us nurture the faith and discipleship of our KUPC children and youth.
Margaret’s primary responsibility will be to lead and develop our Christian Education ministries, ensuring that children, youth, and families feel not only welcomed but valued and nurtured in their spiritual journey. She will be working closely with Patterson and the Christian Education Committee, as well as with parents and families in our congregation, to create a supportive and enriching environment.
Margaret brings a diverse background, holding a B.S. Degree in marketing and management from Morris Harvey College, as well as completing 36 hours toward an MBA from Marshall Graduate College. Her professional journey includes a long career with the state of West Virginia, where she worked in Human Resources for the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, the State Department of Education, and the Higher Education Policy Commission. Margaret also worked for Kanawha County Schools.
Having lived in West Virginia and later moving to Myrtle Beach, SC, Margaret has recently returned to be closer to her family. Her dedication to church volunteer work is impressive, with experiences ranging from nurturing children in church nurseries to teaching Sunday school and serving as a youth counselor at various churches, including St. Andrews United Methodist Church in St. Albans, St. Marks United Methodist Church in Charleston, and First Presbyterian Church in Myrtle Beach.
The Personnel Committee is confident that Margaret’s passion, experience, and dedication will be invaluable in planning events and fostering a vibrant environment for our children and youth.
