Mission and
Outreach
Our Purpose:
To further the mission of Jesus Christ by
engaging the Congregation in outreach and mission activities.
Our Activities:
Simple Gifts – collection of small personal and food items
for the needy, every Sunday.
Denominational Special Offerings -are:

Our committee is responsible for requesting Session to approve each
of these offerings.
Cents-Ability – collects money on
the Second Sunday of each month for feeding the hungry
around the globe and in our community.
Oakwood Task Force –We provide funds and helpers for
the annual Halloween Party, one or more summer pool parties, and the
distribution of Christmas gifts and food for this
Presbyterian-founded housing complex for families needing
assistance.

Quarry Manor Worship Services – We
provide church services to this live-in health care facility.
Heifer International Project – is a worldwide organization that provides
animals to villages and families to promote independence and
self-sufficiency. Special offerings are collected.

Habitat for Humanity -
Mountaineer Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical housing ministry.
Houses are built or renovated using as much volunteer labor and
donated materials as possible.
Mission South American – assists Andrew and Kathy McMillan
with their mission work in Columbia, South America. Andrew grew up
at KUPC and keeps us informed of their needs as they continue their
important work.
Mitten Tree – where the Congregation donates winter scarves,
hats and mittens for the YWCA Sojourners Shelter.
Adopt-a-family - the congregation donates Christmas gifts to
families, through heart and hand.
American Indian Outreach – Harry Palmer is concerned for the
American Indians and recommends that we reach out to help them.
East End Family Resource Center – is a hub for children and
youth enrichment on Charleston’s east end. We have included children
as guests at Forum performances and the lunch following;
The Great Potato Drop - A truckload of sweet potatoes was
purchased, and then bagged and distributed to various food pantries.
