Habitat for Humanity

A 2011 Fall Habitat project was held on Saturday, October 8th.  Work was carried out on one house in the North Hills area.  We had a rather small but enthusiastic group - Jerry Gilbert, Jerry's associate, John, Stuart Smith, Jeff Brown, Barb Smith, and Jim Smith. We were joined by April anf Lindsey from "The Folded Leaf" yoga school.

We constructed (framed) the two long (42 foot) walls on one house.  Due to the small number of folks we opted not to attempt raising the walls, but to leave that for a later and lager crew.

We felt we had another very productive.

A 2011 Habitat project was held on Friday, May 20th.  Work was carried out mainly on one house in the North Hills area, although Habitat has three houses in process there.  We had a rather small contingent - Jerry Gilbert, Steve Payne, Barb Smith, and Jim Smith.  Jan Green furnished lunch.  We were joined by a group  of Glaxo pharmaceutical representatives.  We worked on the roof, and did a variety on carpentry work.  The Glaxo group also got all the windows and door installed.

It was a great and productive day!

The Southers house in North Hills is done and the Dedication is set for Sunday. July 26 @ 3:00pm.

"I Love my house so so much. It is gorgeous. Yesterday I fed deer they came right to me and I fed them. They even had their babies with them. I have found four turtles and played with them gave them water and lettuce then let them go. I have frogs in my backyard everywhere. My baby thinks it is the funniest thing in the world that we can walk in our back yard and see animals all day. I feel like I live in the park. I could have never ever picked a better place for my girls to grow up. T

Then the inside is perfect. I mean perfect. I am so grateful to you all. I am sitting here with tears rolling down my face while typing this because I am so happy. Habitat and all the staff and volunteers are so great, I mean just wonderful people.

If I hadn’t been approved for this house I don’t know what I would do. But, what I do know is this is the best program in the world. I love you all, you have really gave me so much hope for the future.

I will see you Sunday and I thank you from the bottom of my heart and soul."

Sincerely,

Stephanie………………………………
